These items above went through my screening process.

I scrutinize ingredients to a degree that drives my wife crazy, but at the end of the day it’s better to bring good stuff home.

Why not share the results with you, I figured. Everyone gets back to their routine this time of year and convenience foods can be very helpful. Here’s the spiel:

The IQ Bars are new to me and they come in a variety of Banana Nut, Peanut Butter Chip, and Chocolate Sea Salt. I’m impressed with these. They are full of really good ingredients and they taste good too. You could actually start your day out well with these bars because of the MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides) present in this product.

The next snack is a minimal ingredient beef stick. Country Archer Provisions makes 1 of the 2 nut-free snacks in this writing. The beef is grass-fed which is supposed to lead to healthier fat and cholesterol as opposed to corn or grain fed beef. I’ve previously wrote about Chomps which are also good (and you can get at Costco), but I wanted to try something new.

The Rx Bars come in a variety pack. There’s the Peanut Butter Chocolate shown above along with Chocolate Sea Salt. They both taste good and I like that their label matches their ingredients. Lots of “healthy” food products will market with their labeling but when you read the ingredients you find it’s full of junk.

There are also more flavors of Rx Bars that you’ll find in other stores as opposed to just the two that Costco sells.

Perfect Bars are also new to me. I wasn’t sure if I should get them because it says they need to be refrigerated. Reading a bit more on the label and it says you can leave them out of a refrigerator for up to 1 week. I’m not totally sure how I feel about these. If you are a peanut butter fanatic though, these are definitely for you. They are loaded with vegetables, fruits, and other foods like kelp, olive oil, and even rose hip. It’s honestly pretty amazing how many different healthy foods are in these. They come in 2 flavors at Costco and I’m sure they’re are more: Peanut Butter and Peanut Butter Chip.

The final snack is a Pure Organic layered fruit bar. These are very similar to my childhood snacks “Fruit Roll-Ups” but they taste way better. This is the snack for the kid who hates to eat fruit, but should really get some fruit in their diet. There’s no strange ingredients or food dyes. There’s 3 flavors from the Costco variety box: Strawberry Banana, Pineapple Passionfruit, and Raspberry Lemonade. This product is also free of nuts.

So if you’re having a tough time packing school or work lunches and keeping it healthy, try these products.

Additionally, you can take a picture of a lunch or products you put in lunches and ask me my thoughts.

As I’ve said earlier, the food industry can be very deceptive. Their labels praise health benefits, but further investigation into ingredients leads to the exact opposite.

Not a member of Costco? That’s ok. Just Google these items and you can order them online or likely find them at a store near you.

Enjoy!
