Heartburn occurs when stomach acids make contact with your esophagus. It is caused by a variety of things and there are many products out there to help combat heartburn.
I don’t use any of the over-the-counter products to treat heartburn.
When I do get heartburn here is what I do:
Take 1/2 Teaspoon of Baking Soda and fully dissolve it in a cool glass of water.
You can do this every 2 hours.
Make sure you measure properly. There are some case studies of people using too much baking soda and causing alkalinity in their body.
It’s mildly annoying though. The studies do not mention amounts consumed, frequency, or what ended up happening to these patients.
Case studies are also low on the totem pole of research. So take this with a grain of salt…or a grain of sodium bicarbonate🤠.
I always check for safety whenever recommending anything. I’d say I use this remedy at most twice a month.
So it is certainly safe to use baking soda and water to help with heartburn. Just don’t overdo it and better yet, if you find you get this frequently, go and visit with your primary healthcare provider.
This is why it is important to see your doctor if this is a frequent issue.
