I take supplements daily and when I go without them I can definitely notice a difference.

A lot of people take supplements, but it’s important to assess a few things about what you take.

First is bioavailability. What this means is the body’s ability to absorb something so it is able to have an active effect.

Some people will scoff at vitamins and say “all you’re doing is creating expensive urine.”

This is accurate for supplements that have a low bioavailability.

The other thing I look at is the other ingredients. For example, gummy vitamins tend to have a ton of sugar in them and even food dyes. I talked about this in a previous email.

Lastly, make sure you’re taking the right portion of vitamins and minerals.

There are water soluble vitamins and fat soluble vitamins. Fat soluble vitamins can have toxic levels leading to serious complications. These vitamins include vitamins A, D, E, & K.

Water soluble vitamins are all the other vitamins and can be taken in excess as well, but the effects are not as serious.

As I mentioned last week, I never shared what supplements I take.

The main reason for this is that I don’t want my emails to ever appear to be a solicitation.  They are purely for informational and entertainment reasons only.

So with that cleared up, I’m happy to reveal what I take:

I exclusively use Pure Encapsulations brands of supplements. There are 5 brands that they offer.  Here is what I am currently taking:

Pure Encapsulations:

Athletic Pure Pack

Daily Immune (As Needed)

PureLean Satiety

UltraMag Magnesium (As Needed)

Vitamin D3 5000 IU (On Days I Don’t Get Much Sun)

Klean Athlete:

Klean Probiotic

If you don’t take any supplements, I definitely recommend considering it. It’s a very large market and there’s a bunch of options. Keep that in mind when deciding what to buy. With a lot of options, we gain flexibility, but there’s also a lot of crap!

Marketing is very savvy around these products. Don’t be fooled by names and labels. Look for any research behind the products and add search terms when looking products up like “bioavailability”, “efficacy”, or “scholarly articles”.

Or, ask me what I think about a supplement! I’d be happy to look at what you’re taking or thinking of buying.
