Do you ever feel as though there just isn’t enough time in the day?

You have tons to do but you never seem to get to the end of that never ending “To-Do” List.

Taking breaks throughout the day is important to maintaining the energy needed to get it all done. Lots of us will grab our phone for a quick break and before you know it…

We’ve been on there for way longer than originally intended.

This is not your fault. Phone are designed to keep you engaged. Apps are designed to stimulate brain activity in a similar way that sugar or even cocaine does.

Thankfully there is a very easy thing you can do to decrease the temptation to stay on your phone.

All you have to do is try switching your phone’s display to grayscale.

This completely removes the color from your phone’s display and changes the way our mind reacts to looking at the screen.

In this study, researchers found that switching phones to grayscale reduced screen time by about 40 minutes per day.

Besides the motivation to being more productive, extended phone use has been related to increased risk of depression, anxiety, sleep deficits, and a reduced life satisfaction.

There’s even a term for those who are on their phone too much – PSU or Problematic Smartphone Use.

Let’s try something.

If you are having difficulty getting things done or just feeling kind of down and out, turn your phone to grayscale. See what happens. Are you more productive? Are your spirits a little higher?

There’s only one way to find out, and that’s giving it a shot.

To do this on Android phones:

Open Settings > Click Accessibility > Color and motion

Select Color Correction and choose Grayscale

Then toggle the color correction to on

To do this on iPhones:

Open Settings > Accessibility > Display Text & Size > Color Filters

Toggle Color Filters on and choose Grayscale

I got mine set up. Are you in?
